Working Together
for local climate solutions
Low Carbon Kāpiti is a grassroots community organisation made up of local people who want to see more action to reduce the causes of the climate crisis (aka climate change).
The Paris Agreement commits NZ to playing our part in achieving net-zero emissions of greenhouse gases (carbon) by the middle of the century, and the window of opportunity is rapidly closing to get on track to achieve this.
We cannot sit back and hope for the best – we need to bring about a low-carbon world (as a precursor to a no-carbon world), right now.
What do we want to see more of? Improved public transport services, cycle and walking paths, more electric vehicles and e-bikes plus charging infrastructure for them, renewable power, energy efficiency, the end to the use of fossil fuels, tree planting and environmental restoration, sustainable agriculture - things that would make the Kāpiti Coast an even better place to live, make us happier and more prosperous and help the climate.
